Megan Barton Hanson hits back at troll who brands her 'pathetic' over Wes Nelson break-up fallout

Megan Barton Hanson has called out an Instagram troll who slammed her recent social media posts as “childish” and “pathetic” following her split from Love Island co-star Wes Nelson.

Last night, the reality star appeared to take a subtle swipe at her ex-boyfriend in an Instagram Story, posting a clip from the skating film Blades of Glory.

Her caption, which read “Just when I thought I never had to watch ice skating ever again this is on,” appeared to allude to her appearances in the audience of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, in support of then-partner Nelson.

One follower appeared to take issue with Barton Hanson’s jibe, replying to her second Blades of Glory-related post with a long message in which they slammed the 24-year-old as “selfish” and “insecure.”

“OMG shut the f*** up you stupid selfish idiot,” it began.

“Everyday you’re gagging to mention your relationship / indirect Wes, you’re so childish.

“We all know that you sit at home and watch him on the TV FLOURISHING without your needy, insecure, selfish ass. His career is going to take off without you weighing him down and stopping him from taking up opportunities.

“Get a grip. You’re just a pretty face and even that face is melting away, looking more like Michael Jackson every day. You’re pathetic.”

Not willing to let the cruel comments slide, Barton Hanson shared a screenshot of the rant in another Instagram Story.

“These people tho?!” she captioned the post, before suggesting that the social media user “need[s] Jesus in [their] life!”

She also added stickers which read “save room for Jesus” and “praying for my haters.”

Yesterday, Dancing on Ice fans were convinced that Nelson’s song choice was a dig at his former girlfriend, as he performed a routine to Labrinth’s Jealous with skating partner Vanessa Bauer.

Viewers suggested that the track was a way of “wind[ing] up” Barton Hanson, but Nelson later dismissed any suggestion that the decision had been made with his ex in mind, reminding fans that “the producers pick the songs we perform to.”

Dancing on Ice is on ITV, Sunday at 6pm
