Megan McKenna's debut song High Heeled Shoes reaches No 1 in iTunes Charts

The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star Megan McKenna’s debut single ‘High Heeled Shoes’ has stormed the charts in the UK, going straight in at Number 5 before reaching Number 1 in the iTunes chart within hours of its release.

The reality TV beauty dropped her new track when her show ‘There’s Something About Megan’ wrapped last night (Sept. 5) and it’s already proved a huge hit with fans, with Megan admitting to Yahoo Celeb UK that music is her main focus now.

What’s more, the 24-year-old singer’s second song ‘Far Cry From Love’, which she wrote with country artist Beth Nielsen Chapman while she filming in Nashville, Tennessee, over the summer, is following closely behind in Number 8.

Taking to her Twitter account this morning, Megan wrote: “To wake up and be number 5 in the charts! AHHHHHH! This is madness! Thankyou all so much for downloading and loving my music! (sic)”

Soon after, she was celebrating on the social media site as her fans pushed ‘High Heeled Shoes’ to the top spot.

During her time across the pond Megan performed in Nashville’s prestigous Bluebird Cafe and wowed key industry figures within country music with her voice.

She told Yahoo Celeb UK at the TV Choice Awards on Monday: “I can’t believe the support I’ve had. My twitter has been going crazy … The whole thing came about from me singing my whole life, when I was 10 I went to an audition in the West End and they told me ‘you sing too country’ and that’s how it all came about. Me and my mum always wanted to go to Nashville but obviously we never had enough money. My mum and my nan are so emotional now.”

The star – who is dating Pete Wicks – also said she’s focusing on her music and is ready to put aside the drama of reality TV.

She told us: “The whole mental Megs thing is a small part of what has gone in my past, but it’s my chance now to prove who I am and do what I want to do.

“I’ve grown up a lot. I started TOWIE a good few years ago now. There was a lot of alcohol involved. I was put in situations that were difficult. The show is completely different to day to day life.”

Her fans seemed to love it too and flocked to Twitter in their droves to comment on the catchy tune.
