Megan Thee Stallion recreates Britney Spears's iconic snake routine at MTV VMAs

Megan Thee Stallion recreated Britney Spears's iconic snake routine at 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Wednesday night.

The rapper, real name Megan Pete, served as host of the annual awards spectacle, with the star-studded event staged at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

At one point in the show, Megan entered the stage wearing a green bra, denim shorts, and silver boots - a replica of the look Britney wore when she performed I'm a Slave 4 U with an Albino python draped over her shoulders at the 2001 MTV VMAs.

The Savage hitmaker also held a snake - but she was nowhere as calm as the Toxic star appeared to be during her memorable performance.

"Okay. Okay. Stop the music!" Megan yelled while standing completely still.

As a wrangler entered the stage, the 29-year-old continued, "I'm just playing. Come get the snake. I don't know this snake, this snake don't know me. Oh my God... I tried to hold it down for Britney."

Following the exhilarating moment, Megan continued presenting the show without missing a beat.

And despite appearing cool and calm during her own legendary MTV VMAs performance, Britney shared in an Instagram post in September 2023 that she was anything but.

"One of my favorite performances was with an albino python... I still remember how scared I felt when I was handed this snake and took the stage !!!" she wrote alongside a clip of the moment.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift dominated the 2024 prizegiving, taking home Video of the Year and Artist of the Year, while Katy Perry was presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
