Erm, so this isn't awkward or anything.

A new TV show is in development that centres on a divorced husband who has to share custody of their child with the British Royal Family after his ex wife marries a prince.

Seems promising, right? Well, one of the men behind the project is producer Trevor Engleson, who is the real-life ex-husband of Meghan Markle. You know, Prince Harry's girlfriend...

According to Deadline, Fox is committed to a pilot of the as-yet-untitled comedy from Engleson, Modern Family's Danny Zuker, New Girl's Jake Kasdan and The Shannara Chronicles' Dan Farah.

However, it is noted that the idea is "fictional", as Markle and Engleson have no kids together. Plus, the former is most definitely not involved.

The idea reportedly originated after Engleson and Farah mused over what would happen if he and Markle had had kids and had to share with the royals.

The site also reports that Fox bought the comedy on the spot after the pitch, and it is believed to be the biggest commitment to a pitch by the channel this season.

(Still, it all sounds a bit close-to-the-bone, if you ask us.)

Markle was seen cheering on boyfriend Prince Harry at the Invictus Games over the weekend, marking their first time seen in the same public place together.

The Suits actress recently opened up about their relationship for the first time, explaining: "We're two people who are really happy and in love.

"We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people's perception. Nothing about me changed."
