The Duchess of Sussex’s father made his first public appearance since his daughter’s wedding — with a visit to Starbucks.

Thomas Markle , 73, who was forced to miss the ceremony because of heart surgery, reportedly picked up a Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino from the drive-thru cafe in Rosarito, Mexico.

Topped with whipped cream and mocha drizzle, and including 69 grams of sugar, the largest serving of the drink can contain 540 calories.

It is understood he was being driven home after spending several days with friends living on a gated estate nearby to escape the media frenzy.

Mr Markle watched the ceremony — which took place at 4am local time — on television, later describing it as “joyful and emotional” in an interview with the TMZ website.

Mr Markle revealed he had texted Meghan to tell her he loved her before the ceremony and said he regretted not being able to go.

His appearance came as his eldest daughter, Meghan’s estranged half-sister, Samantha Grant called for a family reunion.

Her appeal to get the family back together she said was inspired by Bishop Michael Curry’s address at Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday.

The 53-year-old has since offered to reconcile with her half-sister, the Duchess of Sussex, to bring peace to the family after a decade of estrangement, the Sun reported.

She told the newspaper: “I watched the bishop talk about love and unity and forgiveness and I hoped it would strike a chord within Meghan.

“So if that was real and if I were to define a principle to all of this then it would be that we all just work for a peaceful resolution and reunion as a family.”
