Meghan Markle's high street jumper sells out within hours of her stepping out on International Women's Day

Today, it wasn't just International Women's Day which was trending on Twitter, but also Meghan Markle's jumper.

The 36-year-old stepped out to join her soon-to-be husband Prince Harry in Birmingham at the STEM event, which helps encourage girls to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering or maths.

For the occasion, Meghan sported a few of her trusty wardrobe favourites, including a two-tone wrap coat by J.Crew and a pair of tailored black trousers by Alexander Wang.

However, as soon as she discarded the chic jacket, the bride-to-be's striking white polo neck was the only item gaining anyone's attention.

For starters, Meghan's sartorial choices over the past few months have notably stuck to darker hues, leaving many believing the shade could be a subtle nod towards International Women's Day - with white being one of the suffragette colours.

However, whether or not that's true, others were simply drawn in by the price; it was quickly discovered that the classic funnel neck jumper was in fact by high street store AllSaints, retailing for a rather reasonable £168.

Thanks to the ever-growing 'Meghan Effect' the chalk white Ridley Jumper has sold out within hours of the royal-to-be's debut.

However, all is not lost as the same slouchy style is available in 'cinder black marl' and 'ink blue'.

This wouldn't be the first time Meghan has gained a lot of success (and sales) through her jumper choices.

Earlier this year the actress visited Reprezent Radio in Brixton wearing a £45 M&S jumper, which sent fans of the British brand into a frenzy.

This might be the second, but we're certain not the last, time Meghan's knitwear has caused shopping chaos.
