Meghan Markle’s estranged half-sister has blasted her sibling’s new coat of arms and said it “looks like it was drawn by someone in a kindergarten classroom.”
In yet another Twitter rant, Samantha Grant criticised her sister, the new Duchess of Sussex, for “leaving” their father Thomas, who did not attend the royal wedding, off the coat of arms which was unveiled by Kensington Palace on Friday.
Ms Grant, who has not spoken to Meghan since 2015, said the design of the arms was “silly” because neither the UN, women’s rights nor “anything of substance” was represented there.
It added that three quills on the shield were meant to represent communication and the power of words.
But in a series of angry tweets, Ms Grant said: “Quills for communication?
“She does not communicate with people she cuts people out of her life including a best friend of 30 years and two speeches in her whole life time does not make her a public speaker.
“Her degrees are in drama and foreign affairs and only a bachelor degree.”
She went on: “Her motto is say nothing and she cut everyone off.”
“It just seems like the coat of arms was thrown together he’s [sic] silly because neither the UN, nor women’s rights, nor anything of substance.. but especially our dad and even her mom are not represented there. It is an empty coat of arms so it makes no sense.”
Ms Grant added: “Our father should be named on the coat of arms and for the Royals to deprive him of that is classless.”
Earlier, she had written: “Extremely improper that my father was not named on the coat of arms and quite frankly looks like it was drawn by someone in a kindergarten classroom.”
The design of the Arms was agreed and approved by Her Majesty The Queen and Mr Thomas Woodcock (Garter King of Arms and Senior Herald in England), who is based at the College of Arms in London.
Meghan worked closely with the College of Arms throughout the design process to create a Coat of Arms that was both personal and representative, Kensington Palace said.
The blue background of the shield represents the Pacific Ocean off the California coast, while the two golden rays across the shield are symbolic of the sunshine of The Duchess's home state.
The three quills represent communication and the power of words, while beneath the shield on the grass sits a collection of golden poppies, California's state flower, and wintersweet, which grows at Kensington Palace.
Ms Grant has repeatedly criticised Meghan for not inviting members of their family to the royal wedding last Saturday.
Piers Morgan recently branded Ms Grant a "media vulture" during a fiery interview on Good Morning Britain. He slammed Ms Grant for repeatedly "trashing" her half-sister since her relationship with Harry went public and "trading off her very tenuous connection with Meghan".
