Meghan Markle could feel “suffocated” within the confines of royal life.

That’s according to royal biographer, Duncan Larcombe, who explains that the Duchess could soon tire of spending summers at  Balmoral Castle, Christmas at Sandringham and Easter at Windsor.

“If she doesn’t like it, it’s going to be really difficult for her,” Larcombe tells Yahoo UK during episode seven of ‘The Royal Box’. “It would be very suffocating.”

“Nobody spends months of the year with their parents and their grandparents on holiday. To have a whole family together in the same castle, it’s not normal, it’s strange. Tensions are magnified and it’s frustrating.”

Larcombe likens Meghan’s experience to Princess Diana‘s who “hated” Christmas trips to Sandringham, saying the late Princess used “to drive away from it at high speed every year.”

Each summer, the royals head to the Scottish Highlands to spend their holidays at the Queen’s residence, Balmoral Castle.

The Queen generally stays for months at a time, with her wider family making drop in visits throughout the summer.

This year, it’s thought Her Majesty welcomed a new guest for the first time: Meghan Markle.

While we can only speculate what Meghan got up to during her stay with Prince Harry (of which they’ve now returned), it’s likely the slow pace of Balmoral is a huge step away from the cosmopolitan life Meghan knows.

But it doesn’t stop there: later this year the Duke and Duchess will be spending Christmas at Sandringham, and Easter in Windsor next spring, as are another traditions in the royal family’s calendar.
