Meghan Markle got 'dressing down' by Queen for blunt remark about food

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was reportedly given a stern talking-to by the late Queen for her behaviour during a food tasting event ahead of her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, a Royal author claims.

According to these assertions, during the nuptial preparations, Meghan allegedly expressed dissatisfaction at the taste-testing session and did not shy away from showing her disappointment. It is reported that she became "very upset" after claiming that she could taste egg in one of the prepared dishes.

While narrating the incident, the Royal author says that Meghan was assured there were no eggs in the dish, but she purportedly refuted this claim, persisting: "No, I can taste it."

Elaborating on the supposed spat, Royal scribe Katie Nicholl reported to Yahoo's Royal Box that around this point, Queen Elizabeth II stepped in. She alleges that the late monarch, who passed away in 2022, entered the room at Windsor Castle and "quietly took Meghan to the side", reports the Mirror.

The Queen reportedly admonished Meghan, stating "the Royal Family does not speak to people like that".

These newly surfaced alleged remarks come in the wake of another controversy involving the Duchess. Recently, the First Lady of Nigeria felt compelled to address apparent criticism she directed towards Meghan during the latter's visit to Nigeria last month.

Reports suggest Oluremi Tinubu criticised Meghan for dressing ''indecently'' while delivering a speech at an event marking President Bola Tinubu's first year in office.

The statement from Tinubu's office follows reports that she had criticised Meghan Markle's clothing choices, saying that Nigerians are "beautiful" and don't need to emulate film stars from America. However, Tinubu's office has denied this, saying that the comments were actually aimed at young Nigerian women.

The TV station that filmed the speech also denied that Tinubu had reprimanded Meghan.

The comments in question saw Tinubu say: "The message here is we have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress. They keep forgetting that Nigeria, we are beautiful. You can see what they showcase on the stage, I said, 'We are fashionable, we see what is going on'."

"We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed. So we have to do something. Tell them we don't accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It's not beautiful at all."

"And they're all beautiful girls, but they should be confident in who they are. They do not want to mimic and try to emulate film stars from America. They don't know where they come from. Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with. We know who we are. Don't lose who you are."
