Video of Meghan Markle claiming that palace aides had leaked against her – made during the couple's bombshell interview with Oprah in 2021 – has resurfaced online.

In the clip, Meghan alleges she wasn't being protected by the royal institution despite the fact that aides were happy to "lie" to protect other members of the House of Windsor.

"Not only was I not being protected," she says, "but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family but they weren't willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband."

The resurfaced video from the infamous Oprah video was edited together with Prince Harry's comments from the recent trailer for the final three episodes of the couple's Netflix documentary, during which he echoed his wife sentiments, but referred to his brother specifically.

"They were happy to lie to protect my brother [William]. They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us", Harry said.

Critics of the couple's documentary have noted many of the claims appear to cover similar ground as before.

The Sussexes' disdain for the tabloid media is well known, and their unwillingness to "play the game" has been clear from both Harry's scathing public statements regarding his wife's treatment in the press and their multiple lawsuits against different outlets.

However, the juxtaposition of these two clips highlights at least one thing: the couple – or at least Harry – may be willing to go further this time around than they were in 2021 when they sat down with Oprah Winfrey.

Whatever the reason might be behind that decision, it remains to be seen how much detail the Sussexes will provide in the last three episodes of the series, which are due to be released on Thursday morning at 8am.

Netflix also released a clip which shows Jenny Afia, the Duchess's lawyer, claim that she has seen "evidence" of negative stories being planted by the palace against Meghan.

"There was a real kind of war against Meghan, and I've certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the Palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other people's agendas". Afia says in the promotional clip.

Afia made similar claims last year in the BBC documentary The Princes and the Press. She said then that the editor of the Mail on Sunday — Ed Verity — was briefed by a "senior figure of the royal household" to help Associated News Limited win their legal battle with the duchess over extracts they had published of a letter she had written her father.

"What it means is", Afia said, "a senior figure in the royal household, according to the Mail on Sunday, was passing [Verity] information, in order to help defeat the duchess' case".
