Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's pre-wedding tour goes on with a walkabout in Belfast

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle touched down in Northern Ireland today on the latest leg of their whistlestop pre-wedding tour of the UK.

The pair, who marry on May 19 in Windsor Castle, were greeted by enthusiastic crowds as they visited Lisburn and Belfast.

They have been touring the country ahead of the wedding to give American Meghan a taste of royal life and British culture.

Their first stop today was at the “Amazing the Space” project at the Eikon Centre in Lisburn, which encourages young people to become ambassadors for peace in their communities.

Later they were going on a walkabout in the heart of Belfast after visiting The Crown Liquor Saloon — a Grade A listed pub owned by the National Trust dating from the 1820s and famed for its decor.

Then they were due to visit hi-tech science park Catalyst Inc before ending their tour at Titanic Belfast, a visitor attraction on the site of the former Harland & Wolff shipyard where the doomed liner was built.

Experts say the royal wedding could boost the UK economy, increasing tourism and pushing up sales in pubs and restaurants.

Once married Meghan intends to become a UK citizen. This week wedding invitations were sent to 600 guests, with a further 200 invited to the reception. Former soldier Harry may be in uniform for the ceremony.
