Meghan Markle & Prince Harry May Not Be Allowed to Use the Word ‘Royal’ Anymore...

We’re learning a ton of new details about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new roles now that they are no longer “senior royals.”

People confirmed with a royal spokesperson quite a bit of information in regards to the duo’s royal exit, including the fact that the couple may no longer be able to use the word “royal.” We’re not kidding.

Nothing is set in stone yet on whether or not the duke and duchess can use the word (at least as it applies to their philanthropy), which was originally going to be called Sussex Royal, the Charity Foundation.

“As The Duke and Duchess are stepping back as senior Members of the Royal Family, and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘Royal’, in this context, needed to be reviewed,” revealed their spokesperson. “Discussions are still ongoing, however, a change will be announced alongside the launch of their new non-profit organization.”

The spokesperson also announced that the couple will formally and officially step down from duties on March 31. As of April 1, the 35-year-old prince and 38-year-old duchess will close their office at Buckingham Palace and will be solely supported by their charity foundation team.

Not calling them a “royal couple” anymore will definitely take some getting used to.
