Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's dog's name has finally been revealed along with its sweet meaning - after two long years of guessing the wrong names.

Meghan famously had to leave behind her beloved dog Bogart when she left Canada for England.

She told the BBC's Mishal Husain at the time: "I have two dogs that I've had for quite a long time, both my rescue pups. And one is now staying with very close friends and my other little guy is, yes he's in the UK, he's been here for a while," but added, "I think he's doing just fine."

She and Harry then ended up adopting a new dog together.

They adopted a black Labrador retriever in August of 2018 and now, two years later, the lab's name has been revealed.

The dog is named Pula. Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the authors of the tell-all book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, revealed to People that Pula is named after Botswana's currency and means "rain." Harry and Meghan famously took a trip to Botswana when they first started dating to celebrate her 36th birthday.

They visited Botswana again in 2017 to volunteer with Elephants Without Borders. Meghan is such a supporter of the cause that she was a voice actor for the Disney+ Elephant documentary that premiered in April. She declined a fee for her voiceover services and instead donated the money to Elephants Without Borders

While people frequently guessed the dog's name they weren't accurate. At one point, Prince Harry even joked that “people keep getting her name wrong.”

The couple also has a beagle named Guy, who Queen Elizabeth was spotted with before Harry and Meghan's wedding.
