Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's latest separate appearances show "just how far their star has fallen", according to a royal expert.

The Duke of Sussex was filmed taking part in a sketch in which he appears to be given a tattoo by US music star Jelly Roll, as part of the build-up to the Invictus Games in Canada.

In the sketch, filmed at New York tattoo parlour East Side Ink, where the royal was pictured weeks ago, the country singer and rapper joked that Harry has agreed to be given his first tattoo.

Meanwhile, Meghan was pictured supporting business pals, without Harry, at a new haircare launch in California. Duchess Meghan was spotted celebrating the launch of the new haircare line by the brand Highbrow Hippie, which she has invested in and is co-founded by her friend, Kadi Lee.

Speaking on Palace Confidential, the Mail on Sunday's editor at large Charlotte Griffiths said she was surprised by the Duchess's appearance at the event and said "it's not a good sign".

She said: "That really shocked me because I thought, this is a woman who, at least in her own mind and for quite a long time, was an A-list global worldwide celebrity and here she was at a hair product launch.

"The event was hosted by one of her friends so perhaps she was just being nice to her friend, but I still thought why aren't they together especially at the Invictus event because I know that she's really supportive of Invictus and it's just a bit beneath her to be honest, sorry to be rude.

"This just shows how far their star has fallen though, he's getting a tattoo on telly and she's at a hair care launch. I mean it's not a good sign."

Jelly Roll - who has been announced as the first headliner at the closing ceremony of the event next year - told Harry: "We are giving you a tattoo about the Invictus Games." Harry then said he wanted to ask Jelly Roll "to do" the games, not to tattoo him, to which the singer said he would only play the games if Harry let him give him his first tattoo.

In the video, the duke agreed and asked the music star to tattoo his "lower back" or his "a**e".

Jelly Roll then suggested he tattooed Harry's neck instead which he did and told him "I'll see you in Vancouver!"

However, some watchers and royal fans were not impressed with Harry's choice of words and took to social media to express their views.

One user shared the video on their profile on X and said: "How is this PR stunt/ Ad with Harold swearing and getting a fake tattoo helping the veterans? It’s cringe."
