The soon-to-be Royal has had a Hollywood replacement for the long-running show Suits.

Ever since Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, announced their engagement last year, it was something of an inevitability that the actress wouldn’t be continuing with her on-screen role after marrying into the Royal Family.

And now it’s been revealed that Meghan’s replacement for the show, currently in its seventh season (having since been renewed for an eighth), seeing Meghan appear in 103 episodes as Rachel Zane, will be Knocked Up star Katherine Heigl.

Katherine will be joining the cast as Samantha Wheeler, a new partner to Pearson Specter Litt law firm and is set to shake things up with the divisive nature of her character.

According to the BBC, Heigl says she’s an ‘immense fan’ and has been a long-time admirer of the show, having ‘watched Suits from the very beginning.’

The show’s makers have described the new character as either the ‘greatest ally or most powerful enemy’ to the fictional law firm, implying fans could be in for an eventful next season.

The news marks Heigl’s first big role since leaving TV series Grey’s Anatomy under a cloud of controversy, after reports suggested she fell out with its producers. She featured in 120 episodes of the medical drama between 2005 and 2010 as Dr. Izzie Stevens.

The actress simultaneously appeared in a string of big-screen movies The Ugly Truth, 27 Dresses, and most famously Knocked Up, while contracted to the show.

Meghan has herself featured in various shows and films since 2002, including popular series such as CSI: NY, 90210, Knight Rider, Without a Trace, and The League; with cinematic appearances in Remember Me, Get Him to the Greek. Horrible Bosses, and Anti-Social.
