Mel B says a Spice Girls reunion is on the cards

The Spice Girls could have another reunion tour up their sleeves, as member Mel B has revealed that she will "make sure" that the iconic pop group are back on stage in 2023.

Mel, whose real name is Melanie Brown, made the announcement on Friday (September 10) while presenting Mel B's Packed Lunch on Channel 4 as part of the channel's Black To Front project, which saw the talent of Black presenters, actors, writers and contributors spotlighted through the channel's programming.

While making her live presenting debut, Mel was questioned by football pundit Chris Kamara and a member of the studio audience about whether the Spice Girls could get back together again following their 2019 reunion tour, which took place without Victoria Beckham – and Mel had exciting news.

"We did our last tour and Victoria respectfully ducked out, and you have to respect when someone doesn't want to go on tour," she said. "I'm always pushing to have a Spice Girls reunion and we were in talks last year but then COVID hit so it pushed everybody's plans.

"I think we're hopefully on the same page together. They're going to kill me for saying this! We're hoping, especially me – if it has anything to do with me, which it will have 'cause I'm the driving force and will make sure it happens – to tour in 2023!"

The rest of the band's members are yet to comment on Mel's revelation, but there are bound to be some very excited fans out there.

The singer also shared some new nicknames that she has come up with for the band's members, who have also been known as Posh (Victoria), Baby (Emma Bunton), Sporty (Melanie Chisholm), Ginger (Geri Horner) and Scary (Mel B).

"Victoria has a crazy sense of humour, so she'd be Sarky Spice, as in sarcastic," Mel shared. "Baby Spice is actually quite a raunchy sassy-pants, so she'd definitely be Lustful Spice.

"Melanie is a perfectionist, so it's Perfect Spice. Geri, where do I start? Stop-wearing-white-and-wear-the-union-jack Spice. And me? I'd be Fabulous Spice!"

Victoria revealed last year that the 'Posh' nickname wouldn't have been her "first choice", saying that she "ultimately grew into it on my own terms".

Is it possible that a new nickname might make her more likely to rejoin her bandmates on stage again?
