Mel B splits from husband Stephen Belafonte

It has been reported that Mel B has filed for divorce from her husband Stephen Belafonte.

The former Spice Girl has cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason to end their marriage in court documents obtained by E! News, and she is also requesting for her spousal support to Stephen to be terminated.

As well as the divorce documents, it has also been revealed that Mel filed for separation from the 41-year-old film producer on December 28th 2016, she is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their five-year-old daughter Madison.

The news comes as quite a shock to Mel’s fans as just five week ago she had shared a photo of Stephen, calling him her “world”.

She gushed in the caption: “My baby boo @stephenthinks11 we have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger.

“You loved me before I even knew how to really love myself, you are my world honey and let’s not forget you are abit of a d***head too xxxx #tenyearsmarried #fightfortheineyoulove #theysaiditwouldntlast #bitcheswishtheyhadthis #nowtalkaboutme [sic]”.

However, their romance hasn’t always been smooth-sailing and it is thought that the reason Mel and her sister Danielle fell out over a decade ago was due to her marriage to Stephen, although the specific details are unknown.

The pair suffered a bitter feud and barely spoke over the last 10 years, however, they appeared to recently heal the rift between them following the tragic death of their father earlier this month.

Neither Mel or Stephen have publicly commented on news of their split and Yahoo Celeb have contacted Mel’s rep for comment.
