Mel C has confessed to discovering a heartfelt regret during the Spice Girls' latest reunion on tour back in 2019. Behind the scenes, the singer admitted that while she was thrilled to be back with her bandmates, such reunions left her "scared" about past emotions within the group.

When asked about her experiences from their last tour, Mel C insisted she felt regret at not appreciating the group's earlier years. She spilled: "I learned that it was a shame that we couldn't fully appreciate it at the time. You're a little bit in survival mode, you're just, at points, going through emotions."

She continued: "This incredible thing happens to you and it's so hard to appreciate it, because it's so intense, you know." When Steven Bartlett questioned whether she feared past issues resurfacing on their latest tour, she admitted: "Always, whenever us girls get together, there's little triggers and I'm scared.

"But, I have to face them because I've learned through experience of the other things that have gone on to do with the girls. We reunited in 2007, the Olympics (2012), [the tour in] 2019. Face the fear and actually beautiful things happen," she revealed on The Diary Of A CEO podcast.

Discussing the current dynamics within the group, she added: "We're much more mindful of each other now as well, because everyone had their s**t to deal with, it wasn't plain sailing for anyone."

The singer also shared that it was their latest tour that inspired her to pen her book titled Who I Am: My Story in 2022. In the autobiography, Mel provides a "full and honest account" of her experience in the band, including her struggles with an eating disorder and clinical depression.

Explaining her candidness, she previously told the Daily Mail: "I never want to look back on that time negatively, but it is important for me to tell the difficult parts of my past. Our culture has changed so much and so many young people are hungry for fame. And I just want them to be prepared. It's not plain sailing."

The Spice Girls, originally a five-piece including Victoria Beckham, formed in 1994. Despite their individual journeys and various challenges over the years, they have maintained a strong friendship.

Fans were thrilled in May when the group was filmed dancing to their hits at Victoria's star-studded 50th birthday party. Since their most recent reunion, there have been rumours of the girls performing at Glastonbury, although this has yet to be confirmed.
