Mel C ‘devastated’ after cancelling European tour dates due to COVID-19

Melanie C said she was "devastated" after having to cancel her upcoming European solo tour.

The former Spice Girl was supposed to hit the road at the start of 2022 and had 16 shows planned across continental Europe, starting in Portugal and travelling all the way to Norway, while also hitting multiple dates in France and Germany.

However, this morning (29 November) the star took to Twitter to announce that all those dates would be cancelled due to the increase in coronavirus cases in many European countries.

“Due to the current COVID-19 situation in Europe, it is with great regret that I must announce the cancellation of the European dates on my upcoming tour,” she wrote. in her statement.

“I’m devastated to let so many of you down,” she continued, also confirming that her February concerts in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London would remain unchanged.

“My UK dates will still be going ahead, so hopefully, I will see lots of your beautiful faces there!”

Confirming that fans would not be charged for tickets to the cancelled shows, Melanie added: “Your ticket agents will be able to give you a full refund.

“Lots of love, Melanie xxx” she signed off her message.

On her website, the star also confirmed that tickets to the cancelled shows would remain valid once the dates got rescheduled so not all is lost for Sporty fans all across Europe.

Fans seemed to be understanding and supportive in her comment with one writing: “Very sad news. But there is nothing we can do about it.”

“You never disappoint anyone down Melanie. It's not your fault. It is what it is. We're happy to have you entertaining us with your music, with or without the tour,” wrote another.

“I send you a BIG hug, you couldn’t do anything else,” shared a third.
