Melania Trump Has Harsh 'Question' Over Jill Biden's Phone Call After Assassination Attempt
First lady Jill Biden called her predecessor-turned-soon-to-be successor Melania Trump after the attempt on President-elect Donald Trump’s life this summer.
In an interview with Paris Match magazine, Melania Trump said Biden “took the initiative to contact me directly but added: “I do question, however, whether Jill’s concern was genuine as a few days prior she referred to my husband as ‘evil’ and a ‘liar.’”
Melania Trump blamed negative comments about her husband from Democratic leaders and the media for the assassination attempt. She also asked if “the concept of ‘respect’” has become “antiquated” and slammed Democrats’ “harsh words,” conveniently forgetting the divisive rhetoric her husband has spewed for years.
The interview took place in October and was published before Donald Trump’s election victory over Democratic rival Kamala Harris. Melania Trump’s comments garnered attention in the United States this week.
While Donald Trump met with President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday, Melania Trump did not meet with Jill Biden. Reports on the reason for the snub range from lingering bitterness about the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago to a scheduling conflict. Jill Biden reportedly passed a handwritten note for Melania Trump to the president-elect.
