Melania Trump Hints At Conspiracy Theory About Husband's Assassination Attempt

Former first lady Melania Trump on Tuesday openly questioned why law enforcement officials failed to stop a shooter before he was able to carry out an attack on former President Donald Trump at one of his campaign rallies earlier this summer, adding that “there is definitely more to this story.”

In a video advertising the release of her new memoir titled “Melania,” which is due to be released next month, Melania Trump shared her feelings about the former president’s assassination attempt.

“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” she said. “Now, the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story and we need to uncover the truth.”

The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, managed to fire eight times before he was killed by a Secret Service counter sniper on July 13. The shooting took place while the former president was delivering a speech at an outdoor campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and Donald Trump’s right ear was wounded as a result of the attack. One person was killed and two others were injured in the shooting.

FBI officials have yet to identify a motive for the shooter, but have said he likely acted alone.

Last month, Kevin Rojek, the special agent leading the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, said Crooks had made online searches about both Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. Rojek added that the shooter looked at the Pennsylvania rally as a “target of opportunity.”

U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned in the aftermath of the shooting, assuming “full responsibility for the security lapse,” following bipartisan pressure for her to leave the role.

Meanwhile, a bipartisan task force investigating Donald Trump’s assassination attempt has obtained the medical records of the shooter, according to Punchbowl News.

“I don’t know that it’s revealing in any sort of way, because you’re not going to find out much about his past, or what was his thinking the day he did all that,” Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), the chair of the task force, told the outlet.

While Melania Trump has made few appearances on the campaign trail this election season, she was present at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, in July.
