Melania Trump and Queen Letizia nod to Spanish-American relations through fashion

Donald and Melania Trump welcomed King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain to the White House on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spanish royals arrived for a spot of tea with the first couple, as the final stop on their six-day tour of the United States.

Unsurprisingly, both women, who are admired for their style worldwide, dressed flawlessly in luxe looks for the afternoon tea, standing side-by-side in two very different tonal outfits.

Having kept a low profile over the last few weeks, Melania made a raving sartorial return in a gradient dress, which featured earthy hues in olive and khaki, as well as dramatic white floral applique.

Sticking to her high-fashion roots, the frock was from Valentino's 2018 Resort collection and the First Lady finished off the look off with a pair of coordinating khaki heels, which gave a subtle nod to her visitors, as they were made by Spanish designer, Manolo Blahnik.

Meanwhile, Queen Letizia repaid the tribute, donning a striking pink sheath dress by American designer Michael Kors.

And, we are sure the First Lady approved of Letizia's ensemble as, coincidentally, Melania wore the same £1.366 dress, but in powder blue last year to greet Panama’s President and First Lady.

Queen Letizia also joined Melania in pairing her ensemble with a flattering metallic waist belt and matching court shoes by the independent Spanish label Magrit.

In conclusion, two very sophisticated, stylish and diplomatic afternoon tea outfits.
