Melania Trump steps out in colorful Victoria Beckham dress amid London protests

Between angry protests and the “Trump baby” balloon, the Trumps haven’t exactly been welcomed to the U.K. with open arms. Still, the uproar hasn’t stopped Melania Trump from making her official first lady rounds — or spicing up her life.

Because there’s no better place than London to pay tribute to a former Spice Girl, FLOTUS chose a navy, beige, burgundy, and orange color-blocked dress designed by none other than Victoria Beckham. Mrs. Trump sported the colorful look, which she paired with taupe Christian Louboutin heels, as she joined the husband of British Prime Minister Theresa May, Philip May, for a visit to the Royal Hospital Chelsea on Friday morning.

The flared dress is currently sold out, though similar iterations are still available. Farfetch has a short-sleeved version of the dress on sale for $1,433.

Despite her nod to British fashion, the first lady — who wowed in a pale yellow J. Mendel gown for Thursday night’s black-tie dinner at Blenheim Palace — had some stiff style competition. The Chelsea Pensioners, the retired British Army veterans she and May were to meet, are famed for their vibrant red military coats. Let the fashion face-off begin. …
