Menai Strait search resumes after reports person entered water by Menai Bridge
A search has resumed this morning after reports a person entered the water near Menai Suspension Bridge yesterday. The person is reported to have entered the water shortly before 9.45am on Friday, September 20.
The RNLI, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard, and the Aeronautical Rescue Co-Ordination Centre were all scrambled to search the Menai Strait. They were unable to locate the person and it was stood down last night.
This morning the Coastguard said that the search had resumed. They said that teams are carrying out a shoreline search on both sides of the Menai Strait at low tide. Low tide was around 8am this morning.
Anyone who was travelling along the Menai Bridge between 9.20am and 9.45am on Friday and saw anyone walking in the area, or who may have dashcam footage, is asked to contact police.
A statement from North Wales Police's Anglesey officers on Friday said: "We would appeal for anyone travelling along Menai Bridge between 9.20am and 9.45am this morning and [who] saw anyone walking in the area, or may have dashcam footage, to contact us quoting reference Q142472."
