Police uncovered £4,000 worth of cannabis inside a Mercedes following a late-night chase. A 20-year-old man has been quizzed over the find which came to light following a pursuit in Newcastle.

Officers had attempted to pull the vehicle over just after midnight on January 11 - but it made off. A photograph uploaded by the force shows the Mercedes had come to a stop on the Clayton Road and Dartmouth Avenue roundabout.

StokeonTrentLive had reported how paramedics were called to reports of a smash at the junction where one man was assessed - but declined to go to hospital. Today and Staffordshire Police have confirmed two people fled from the car - with a man being caught on nearby Norwich Place.
