Merseyrail cancellations and alterations after 'flooding' on train lines

Merseyrail has cancelled several trains due "flooding" on the tracks. The train operator said on Tuesday, November 19 that due to flooding on the railway at Hooton, trains between Hooton and Chester face cancellations or alterations.

It added a supplementary rail replacement bus service is currently being arranged to operate between Hooton and Chester in both directions, however they bus service is not yet in operation. In further updates on X, Merseyrail said the 1.27pm Chester to Liverpool Central will start at Hooton.

The 2.27pm Chester to Liverpool Central will start at Rock Ferry. It follows a yellow weather warning from the Met Office for snow and ice which was in place from 7pm on Monday, November 18 to 11am on Tuesday, November 19.

Much of Merseyside was covered by the weather warning, though not all of the region was affected. Much of north Liverpool was outside of the affected area on the map. However, most of Knowsley, St Helens and the Wirral was covered by the weather warning and covered in snow. Merseyside has no further weather warnings for the rest of the week.
