Merseyrail passengers warned of five days of disruption
Merseyrail passengers are set for disruption later this month as Network Rail plans to replace a bridge that crosses the River Alt in Formby. The Southport line will be affected from Monday 19 to Friday August 23.
The bridge will be replaced with a new concrete structure, and during this period, train services will not run between Hall Road and Formby. Instead, rail replacement buses will operate between these stations, also stopping at Hightown. Additionally, non-stop buses will run between Southport and Hall Road from approximately 6.30am to 7am and 4pm to 6.30pm.
For these five days, journey times will be extended, so customers are advised to allow extra time for their travels. Normal service is expected to resume from Saturday 24 August. Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys using the Merseyrail website's journey planner.
