Merseyside park to be transformed into Christmas 'wonderland'
Bowring Park in Huyton is set to be transformed into a 'magical festive wonderland' this winter as the much-anticipated ‘Christmas Town’ markets open on Friday November 29. Knowsley Council said the event will bring the 'Christmas spirit to life' with a range of seasonal delights and activities for all ages.
'Christmas Town' promises to bring a more 'intimate, community-focused experience' compared to the bustling city centre markets. From 3pm to 8pm, every Thursday to Sunday, visitors can enjoy the magic of the season while taking advantage of Bowring Park’s unique charm - making it a perfect destination for families, friends, and anyone looking to enjoy the holiday season at a relaxed pace.
The 'Christmas Town' markets will feature a range of festive food and drink, from mulled wine and spiced lattes to hot chocolate and seasonal treats like mince pies and bratwursts. Furthermore, there will be a selection of artisan stalls showcasing handmade crafts, unique gifts, and festive goodies from local vendors.

Families can look forward to a range of creative workshops and activities throughout the festive period. From wreath and ornament making to 'craft’ernoon tea', there will be plenty of opportunities to get creative and festive. There will also be entertainment on offer as the park will hosts a series of Christmas movies and live musical performances.
One of the standout features of 'Christmas Town' is its sustainable Christmas tree farm where visitors can pick out their perfect Christmas tree while also planting a free sapling to help support the environment. The initiative also offers a tree recycling programme in January, allowing families to dispose of their trees in an eco-friendly way.
The event is managed by Oneday, the same team behind the successful Christmas lights switch-on in Huyton. After the success of that event, Oneday has worked closely with the local community to bring 'Christmas Town' to life and it will run until December 22.
Concept Director at Oneday, Chloe Clarke, said: “After seeing so many people come together for the light switch-on in Huyton, we wanted to create a Christmas space where the community could continue to celebrate together throughout the whole of the festive period.
'Christmas Town' offers all the magic of the season in a cosy and welcoming environment, without the crowds or parking costs.”
