Meryl Streep Is the Queen of the Emmys Red Carpet in Blush Pink Suit
Meryl Streep has arrived at the Emmys!
Streep looked glamorous in a blush pink suit, walking the red carpet solo.
Martin Short, her Only Murders in the Building costar, arrived earlier in the evening, and also walked the carpet solo. Short has denied that he and Streep are a couple, claiming earlier this year they are just "very close friends."
Streep, who is up for best supporting actress in a comedy for her role as Loretta Dunkin in season three of Only Murders in the Building, could take home the trophy tonight, though she's up against tough competition, including Hannah Einbinder in Hacks and Sheryl Lee Ralph in Abbott Elementary.
Tonight marks Streep's sixth Emmy nomination. She's won three times: for best narrator in 2017, narrating the documentary Five Came Back, for best actress in a miniseries or movie in 2004 for her performance in Angels in America, and back in 1978 for best lead actress in a limited series for her role in NBC's miniseries Holocaust.
Streep has only attended the Emmys once though, in 2004, when she accepted her award for Angels in America. "There are some days when I myself think I'm overrated," she said at the start of her acceptance speech, to big laughs from the audience. "But not today!" In 1978, when she won, she wasn't there to accept it, saying in an interview, "I don’t think performances should be taken out of context and put up against each other for awards."
Only Murders in the Building season four is currently airing, and the show has already been renewed for a fifth season.
