A dazzling light display will fill the night sky above Birmingham this March as a Wizard of Oz drone show kicks off its UK tour. Edgbaston Stadium will play host to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a 45-minute event utilising hundreds of illuminated drones and sound.

Audiences will be taken on a mesmerising journey alongside Dorothy and other favourite characters from the magical land of Oz. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the latest drone display from creators Celestial and local firm Yuup, following the success of previous shows, Evolution and A Christmas Carol.

The 2025 tour will launch in Birmingham with a one-night show on Sunday, March 1, before heading to stadiums in Nottingham, Cardiff and the North East. Brummies can also expect an extensive food village and entertainment before and after the display.

Organisers describe the spectacle as 'more than a show', rather 'a celebration of courage, connection and the magic that lives within us all'. Dominic Mills, founder of Yuup, said: "Audiences are always looking for new and exciting ways to consume entertainment, and drone light shows are just that.

"We are the first to bring storytelling in this form and length to audiences around the UK, with our show lasting 45 minutes, compared to a typical drone light show of 8 to 12 minutes. We're hugely excited to be partnering with Celestial to bring this show to Birmingham."

John Hopkins, Celestial's founder, added: "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a beloved tale that has been endlessly retold across various genres. This time, it is uniquely presented through drone art, elevating it beyond a traditional drone light show to an epic, stadium-scale experience. This innovative artistic medium brings audiences together through a shared sense of wonder to celebrate a universal story of human strength and belonging."
