Arsene Wenger’s side face Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday in the semi-final of a tournament that almost certainly represents both teams’ last chance of winning a trophy.
Ozil has not lost an Arsenal match at Wembley and has two FA Cup crowns from his four seasons at the Emirates and is aware of the critical importance of the semi-final as Wenger battles to prove he can still bring glory to North London.
“You’re always hungry for titles,” Ozil told Arsenal Player. “We’re out of the Champions League and it will be very hard to win the title. We can only really get this one trophy and we must give everything to do it.
“I hope we can take the next step against City and get into the final. It will be difficult because they want the same - they’re desperate to win the FA Cup, just as we are.”
No manager has won the FA Cup more times than Wenger, who took the crown in 2014 and 2015 with Ozil.
So far those are the only two trophies Arsenal’s record signing has won since his arrival from Real Madrid three-and-a-half years ago and Ozil is keen to add a third to his trophy collection ahead of what the Gunners hope will be a renewed title bid next season.
In particular Ozil hopes Wembley success could help to quell the toxic atmosphere among the Arsenal fanbase.
“The secret is that we believe in ourselves,” he added. “That we support each other on the pitch, that we’re mentally strong and focused to get the trophy.
“We’ve won it two times since I’ve been here. It’s my fourth year here and I’ve won it twice, and it would be nicer to have the trophy in my hands again.
“I think it would do a lot of good for the fans too, to see us winning trophies.”
