Mesut Ozil would be "10 times the player" if the Arsenal playmaker had the "nasty streak" Dele Alli exhibits for Tottenham, according to former Gunners defender Lee Dixon.

Ozil has struggled for form and fitness in recent weeks as Arsenal's season falters, while Spurs and Alli are going from strength the strength in the Premier League despite the absence of injured striker Harry Kane.

As reported by Standard Sport on Tuesday, Ozil - along with Alexis Sanchez - is no closer to agreeing a contract extension in north London with less than two years remaining on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Alli's disciplinary record has improved this season after holding talks with Mauricio Pochettino in an attempt to tame his temper, but ex-Arsenal title winner Dixon believes Alli's gamesmanship makes him the player he is - a trait that Ozil currently lacks.

"He's playing in the first team long-term because he's doing something right," Dixon told ITV Sport as Alli impressed during the first half of England's international friendly against Germany in Dortmund on Wednesday night.

"The fact that he's come into the Tottenham team and they're building a team around him, his talent is limitless.

"If [Ozil] had half of what Dele Alli has got - that nasty streak - he would be 10 times a better player than he is because he hasn't got what Dele Alli has."

Speaking about the futures of Ozil and Sanchez this week, Wenger told beIN Sports: "At the moment we do not have an agreement.

"We have decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it during the summer.

"It is the same situation with Ozil, because once you don't get an agreement and it lasts it's not good. It's better you get it out and sit down during the summer."
