Met Office 24-hour rain warning extended to cover Essex as 'disruption' possible
A 24-hour weather warning for rain has now been extended to cover Essex on Sunday (September 22). The yellow weather warning originally covered areas to the west, but on Sunday the Met Office confirmed it now covers the county.
The warning, which is in place between midnight and 11.59pm, is separate to a warning covering the entire county on Monday (September 23). All of Essex is covered, including Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend and Basildon.
The Met Office warning states: "Areas of heavy rain will bring the potential for disruption on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to merge into broader areas of heavy rain across parts of Wales, central and southern England during Sunday.

"Whilst the strongest signal for impactful rainfall totals appears to be centred across east Wales and west-central England, there is potential right across this highlighted region for some places to see 40-70 mm in 2-3 hours, with a chance that a few places could receive 80-100 mm through the course of the day."
