Met Office breaks silence on Yorkshire weekend weather forecast
Forecasters at the Met Office are predicting that the West of Yorkshire will receive the best of the weather this weekend. According to the meteorologists, the county will be hit with patchy drizzle, cool winds and sunny spells from Friday (September 20) onwards.
But before the sunshine arrives, the entire county is in for a grey and cloudy start to Friday. The Met Office forecast for Yorkshire on Friday says: “The cloud will tend to become fragmented in the west, allowing warm sunny spells to develop in the afternoon, but places near the coast are likely to stay overcast. Maximum temperature 19C.”
And it will be West Yorkshire that will receive the best of the sunshine as we head into the weekend - although there will be some patchy drizzle and cool winds in store too.

The Met Office forecast for Yorkshire between Saturday, September 21 and Monday, September 23 is: “Generally cool with north-easterly winds, bringing extensive low cloud, hill fog and patchy drizzle by night. Brighter during the daytime, with the best chance of any sunshine in the west.”
Looking ahead to next week, meteorologists are predicting a drop in temperatures which will also be accompanied by more rain. The long range weather forecast for the UK between Tuesday, September 24, and Thursday, October 3, is: “Some rain across southeastern parts, lighter and not as extensive as previous days and tending to ease away to the southeast by the end of Tuesday.
“Elsewhere, generally settled conditions prevailing for most places, although with a band of cloud and some rain moving across the far north, particularly the northwest and a few showers moving into western parts further south.
“Temperatures are likely a bit cooler than previous days. A transition to a generally more unsettled, mobile westerly pattern is most likely by midweek and beyond, with spells of wind and rain moving into many areas, but more especially in the south. Towards the end of the week, much cooler, showery conditions are expected for many parts with the north and west likely being a focus for these showers.”
