A yellow weather warning for wind and rain has been issued for parts Yorkshire over the next 48 hours.

Sheffield, Doncaster, Scarborough and Bridlington are some of the places that are most at risk today and Tuesday (October 1) for flooding, as the Met Office predicts up to 80mm of rain will fall.

According to the Met Office, today (Monday, September 30) it will be cloudy with outbreaks of "light rain" that will be tentatively spreading north though often subsiding over southern and western parts. However, the northeast "remaining largely dry" and the wind easing through the day and the maximum temperature in most areas will be 14 °C.

The forecast rain is most likely to hit Leeds first at around 9am and will move further inwards to the surrounding towns, such as Ripon (11am) with some drizzle. Seaside towns such as Whitby and Scarborough will be hit with 8-16mm of rain in the early afternoon of 2pm.

For the rest of the week, it will become dryer and but not warmer as a cold spell could mean that there is some chance of frost at the end of the week.

As prediction states: "Cloudy with outbreaks of light rain on Tuesday. Windy, especially along coasts. Dry with sunny spells Wednesday and Thursday, some lighter winds but an increasing chance of morning frost."
