A weather warning has been issued for parts of Cheshire. The yellow warning for rain will come into force tomorrow (September 22).

The latest warning comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning on Saturday (September 21) for thunderstorms covering much of the county, including Chester, Macclesfield and Crewe. Meanwhile Sunday's warning, which runs from midnight until 11.59pm, for rain covers southern parts of the county, including Nantwich, Malpas and Audlem.

Rain is expected to arrive in those areas from 1pm, and is expected to last until 10am Monday, becoming heaviest in the early evening. Rain is also expected to fall across much of the county, including Chester, Northwich and Macclesfield from 5pm onwards.

Rainy conditions are expected to last until 1pm Monday in Chester. Meanwhile the warning covers huge swaths of the country, from Cornwall to West London, Birmingham and all but the most northerly reaches of Wales. Met Office forecasters explain: "Showers and thunderstorms are expected to merge into broader areas of heavy rain across parts of Wales, central and southern England during Sunday.

"Whilst the strongest signal for impactful rainfall totals appears to be centred across east Wales and west-central England, there is potential right across this highlighted region for some areas to see 30-50 mm in less than 6 hours, with a few places receiving 60-80mm over the course of 12-24 hours."

Forecasters add that areas of heavy rain are likely to continue pushing north and west, becoming slow moving across some northern and possibly eastern reaches of the warning area during the rest of Sunday.
