Met Office hits winter-hit Stoke-on-Trent with 22-hour snow and ice warning
Meteorologists have issued a snow and ice warning for North Staffordshire. The alert comes after many families woke up to find there had been a third successive night of snow.
Now the Met Office has rolled out a yellow warning for snow and ice that came in at midday today and runs through to 10am tomorrow morning (November 22). It comes as meteorologists have forecast some parts of the Moorlands could see several hours of heavy snow between tonight and Friday.
The alert has also meant consecutive weather warnings for North Staffordshire. The latest comes on the back of an ice alert which ran from Tuesday evening until yesterday morning with a yellow warning for rain and snow going from 4am on Saturday until 9am on Sunday.

It comes during a week where Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle and the Moorlands has felt the full force of a winter snap with fallen trees, shut roads, and burst water pipes all causing chaos. A number of schools across the county had to shut this week due to the heavy snow seen across Monday and Tuesday.
The snowfall is also set to a backdrop of plummeting temperatures which have dropped below freezing this week.
Today the Met Office has issued its latest warning, this time for snow and ice, which takes in a huge chunk of the country including Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
A snow warning is also in place across the south west where scores of schools have been forced to shut and motorists stranded on winter-hit roads.
Back in North Staffordshire and according to the latest Met Office forecast, the north of the city from Ball Green and Stockton Brook into Leek will see light snow from 5pm which will turn heavy into the night and could last until around 9am when it turns into sleet.
Stoke-on-Trent is also expected to see flurries from 5pm but that will turn to sleet at around midnight. Temperatures for many will drop to around 0C - but will feel like -5C into the night.
In hillier areas such as Flash and the snow could start at 5pm this evening and last until 4pm on Friday.
