A fresh weather warning for icy conditions has been issued to Cheshire residents as temperatures continue to plummet. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice covering North Wales and most of the North West of England, including the entire county of Cheshire.

The warning comes into force from 4pm today (November 20) and will last until 10am tomorrow (November 21). It comes after a period of snow and icy conditions across the county and much of the UK this week.

The Met Office said: "Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces during Wednesday evening and overnight into Thursday as temperatures drop below freezing.

"A few sleet or snow showers are also likely at times, particularly close to coasts. Icy stretches will lead to some difficult travelling conditions."

Temperatures in Cheshire are set to drop from this afternoon to -1 degrees, according to the Met Office. It will reach -4 degrees by Thursday morning and stay freezing until the weekend.

Warmer temperatures are forecast by Saturday afternoon, however. The Met Office says Cheshire will see a sharp increase in temperature, going from -3 degrees to 10 degrees over the weekend.
