A Met Office warning for snow and ice in parts of Leicestershire has been issued. The 'yellow' warning comes into force at 7pm tonight (Monday, November 18). Yellow warnings means it is likely that the weather will have an impact on residents, including some disruption to travel.

An earlier warning for snow and ice did not include any parts of Leicestershire, but the area affected has now been extended. The Met Office is forecasting that the areas of the East Midlands including parts of north Leicestershire could see a “spell of snow” which “may bring disruption during Monday night and Tuesday morning.”

However it added that the “most likely scenario” was for “most of the snow to accumulate on hills”. The warning runs until 10am tomorrow (Tuesday, November 19).

The Met Office said “there is a chance” of snow “settling at lower levels”, but added that, at this stage, that was “most likely" to be seen across parts of Yorkshire and Derbyshire”.
