Met Office issues yellow weather warning for rain in Leicestershire
A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for parts of Leicestershire for tomorrow (Monday, September 30). The Met Office said that there is a “small chance that heavy rain may cause some flooding and disruption”.
The warning runs from 8am tomorrow until 3am on Tuesday (October 1), with Leicester and areas of north and east Leicestershire falling under the alert. However, the Met Office said there was “significant uncertainty” over how much rain could fall.
It said: “An area of rain, heavy in places, will affect parts of the north-east Midlands and east and northeast England during Monday, before clearing overnight. There is significant uncertainty in the amount of rainfall and location of the largest totals, but 20-40 mm of rain could fall quite widely with a chance that a few places could see 60-80 mm. Strong north-easterly winds will accompany the rain.”

This warning follows persistent rain over the past week in Leicestershire, which included an amber warning for heavy rain. As a result of rainfall one Leicestershire town was turned into a "giant paddling pool" according to a reader, while parts of the city were also "overwhelmed".
Drivers in the county were also urged by the fire service to stop ignoring ‘road closed’ signs after a driver of a car stuck in floodwater had to be rescued in Rothley in Charnwood yesterday (Saturday, September 28).
