Met Office issues yellow weather warning with Kent forecast for 24-hour battering of rain
A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office with experts predicting Kent could be battered with heavy rain. The new warning, issued by meteorologists, is for all of Monday (September 23).
The warning will be in place from 00:00 on Monday morning and will run until 23:59 on Monday evening. The Met Office says heavy rain may result in some disruption with communities potentially being cut off by flooded roads, possible power cuts, spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions, and delays or cancellations to some public transport services.
Areas of heavy rain are expected to affect many parts of England and Wales throughout Monday. The Met Office says there is uncertainty over where will experience the heaviest downpours, but anywhere with the warning could suffer from 30-50mm of rainfall much of which could fall in six hours or less.

Some locations could see 80-100mm over the course of 12 to 24 hours. The warning covers the entirety of Kent on Monday.
The remainder of the week is forecast to be drizzly, with heavy rain predicted again for around 4am on Tuesday (September 24). Wednesday and Thursday (September 26) may also see the return of more heavy rain.
A spokesperson for the Met Office, providing an outlook for Monday to Wednesday, said: "Heavy rain likely across central parts of England on Monday with brighter spells for some. Calmer on Tuesday a few showers possible. More widely wet and windy from mid-week."
