London is again bracing for significant disruption as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall. The warning covers the capital and southeastern England, which may affect commuters and residents on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The 14 hour warning is in place from 10pm today (Tuesday 26) and midday on Wednesday. The Met Office warns that persistent and potentially heavy rain could create widespread challenges, with forecasters predicting 15-20 mm of rainfall, and some areas potentially experiencing up to 40 mm of precipitation. Regions like the Isle of Wight, Sussex, and Kent may face even more intense rainfall, with a chance of up to 50 mm.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said “Much of the warning area will see 15-20 mm of rain, with 30-40 mm in some areas. There is a lower chance of 50 mm of rain in a few places, more likely for areas such as the Isle of Wight, Sussex and Kent, before rain eases and clears by early afternoon. Given the recent wet weather, some disruption to travel and infrastructure could be possible. Along with the rain, things will turn colder from tomorrow for all, with frost and some freezing fog possible.”
