The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for rain in Nottinghamshire, coming on the back of predicted thunderstorms. The weather agency is expecting rain to cause disruption across most of England on Monday, September 23, including the entirety of our county.

The yellow weather warning, which is in place for the whole day, comes amid predictions of heavy rain for Nottinghamshire, particularly in the early hours of the morning. The Met Office warned some communities may be cut off by flooded roads, while rain could lead to difficult driving conditions.

It said power cuts were also possible, as well as delays and cancellations to train and bus services. The weather agency said parts of the Midlands, northeast England and east Wales "look most likely to see the greatest accumulations" of rainfall.

A yellow weather warning is also in place for the entirety of Nottinghamshire on Saturday, September 21, lasting for the full day and ending at midnight. The thunderstorm warning previously covered other areas of the East Midlands bar Nottinghamshire, but this has now been extended to cover the city and wider county.
