Met Office says Birmingham braced for more ‘heavy’ downpours with 95 per cent chance of wet weather
After a period of calm, Birmingham is braced for more wet weather today. Sunday, September 29, will see cloudy conditions turning to heavy rain by the early evening.
The Met Office said there would be a 95 per cent chance of rain between 7pm and 9pm this evening. Temperatures will be 14C at their lowest and 7C at their lowest.
It comes after the city was battered by showers and suffered flood chaos in the last seven days. And there is a chance showers could continue into next week.

However, just two flood alerts remained in the West Midlands, with flooding possible at Middle Avon Rugby to Bidford and the River Anker and River Sence. There were no flood alerts for Birmingham.
The full Sunday outlook from the Met Office read: “Largely fine through this morning with some hazy sunshine. Turning increasingly cloudy during the day with outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy, from late afternoon and into the evening.”
For Monday, the forecaster predicted: “A cloudy and occasionally damp day with outbreaks of rain or drizzle during the morning. Possibly turning drier for some but perhaps staying wet in northern counties. Feeling rather cool.”
And the outlook for Tuesday to Thursday added: “Isolated showers on Tuesday but otherwise mainly dry through mid-week with cloudy periods interspersed by sunny spells. Winds easing allowing some chilly nights with fog patches possible. Temperatures around average.”
