The Met Office warned that some people may find themselves having to scrape ice off their cars on Friday morning as Thursday is set to be another cold one. "Temperatures dipped below freezing in places with another cold night on the way tonight," forecasters said.

Luckily, it will be staying dry for most with clear skies forecast for the rest of the day, despite the chilly temperatures. But many places are likely to see some patchy fog by the morning as well as some frost.

In Greater Manchester, temperatures could drop to around 6C overnight, while more rural areas could see lows of around 4C.

The Met Office forecast for tonight states: "Another rather chilly night for many with clear skies and light winds bringing mist and patchy fog across rural parts, and a risk of frost by dawn. Minimum temperature 7C."

On Friday morning, we can expect to see some "early morning mist" with fog clearing through the morning. That will make way for "a fine though rather cloudy day", the Met Office said.

Forecasters said it would be feeling "cool underneath a blanket of cloud" for much of Friday, with winds picking up through the afternoon. By Saturday, a band of rain will move in with patchy rain remaining throughout Sunday.
