London and the rest of the UK has been plunged into a state of 'anticyclonic doom', says The Met Office. An interactive live map shared by the UK’s national forecaster. yesterday (Friday, November 9) showed a dull and dreary UK with outbreaks of rain.

The anticyclonic gloom is what gives the UK the current miserable, relentlessly grey sky. It’s caused by high pressure which traps moisture near causing an intense cloud known as 'anticyclonic gloom'

High pressure creates minimal wind, which is why the cloud is so still as there’s nothing to break it up.
