Thunderstorms are set to hit Yorkshire again this week.

The Met Office is predicting “sunny spells and thundery showers” for the county and say cloudy and windy conditions are set to take over throughout the start of the week alongside “cooler than average” temperatures. Then, thunderstorms will hit the region on Friday.

The Met Office weather forecast for Yorkshire on Tuesday, June 11, says we can expect a “cloudy start” to the day which later breaks up into “sunny spells and isolated showers, these not as heavy as on Monday. Breezy on the coast but easing into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 14 °C.”

And the wet weather is set to stick around into Wednesday, with forecasters predicting “windy” and “cool” conditions, before “heavy and thundery” showers arrive in time for the weekend.

The Met Office weather forecast for Yorkshire between Wednesday, June 12 and Friday, June 14, says: “Sunny spells and the odd light shower Wednesday. Becoming wet and windy after a sunny start on Thursday. Breezy with showers on Friday, heavy and perhaps thundery. Rather cool throughout.”

And it looks as if the thunderstorms will continue throughout the weekend, with the Met Office predicting the following conditions for Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16: “A mixture of sunny spells and showers is likely across the majority of the UK.

“Some of the showers are expected to be heavy and could be accompanied by thunder. Temperatures will probably be slightly below normal for the time of year.”
