Temperatures in the UK are due to dip dramatically in the coming days, according to a new set of weather maps produced by the Met Office.

The maps show temperatures across the country for Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings (November 30 to December 2), with an unseasonably balmy Saturday quickly giving way to winter's cold on Sunday and Monday.

In London, temperatures will dip from 10C to 8C to 3C, meaning you'll really need to wrap up come Monday.

But it's up in Scotland where the temperatures look truly scary, with the far north going as low as -8C. The rest of Scotland will also be in negative figures, but at between -4C and -2C.

BBC Weather, meanwhile, forecasts cloudy skies and rain on Sunday and Monday in London.

The Met Office's long range forecast doesn't give a whole lot away, being a very difficult thing to predict so far ahead, but of the south of England, the meteorologists note: "Later in the month, there are signals that higher pressure may become re-established, with more settled conditions likely to develop, particularly across the south.

"Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, with colder interludes bringing frost and fog."
