Police are appealing for help in identifying eight machete-wielding men who broke into a family home in east London.

The group broke into a property in Brookscroft Road, Walthamstow, at around 5am on 1 April this year, the Met Police said.

They threatened the four people inside before demanding they hand over any valuables, according to the Met.

The group was able to fight back, causing the suspects to leave empty-handed.

During the struggle two of the victims received minor injuries and both were taken to hospital before later being discharged.

Investigations into the incident led officers to also look into another aggravated burglary that took place at a nightclub in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, on the same night.

PC David Havard, from the burglary and robbery team in Waltham Forest, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the family involved and we are committed to tracking down those who carried out this awful crime.

"As part of our enquiries we can now share images of three men who we want to speak to.
