Metal Sheets Stripped From Illinois Structure During High Winds

Metal sheets were ripped from a structure in Crystal Lake, Illinois, during high winds that hit the state on November 10.

Severe weather warnings of tornadoes and fast-moving thunderstorms were issued for parts of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin by the National Weather Service.

Storm chaser Andrew Sytsma, who was working in Crystal Lake at the time, captured a video of high winds and lightning striking the area. He estimated the wind speed at 70 to 80 mph.

“I was a little concerned,” Sytsma told Storyful, “but I had distanced myself adequately from the fence line so that I would not be hit by any flying debris.” Credit: Andrew Sytsma via Storyful
